March Wedding
With winter months slowly but surely fading, that means wedding season is upon us.
We’ll endure quite a sum for our loved ones including the Cha-Cha Slide and painful small talk that’s comes standard at such an event. However, witnessing the contagious love surrounded by the beautiful bride and giddy groom often proves it all to be worth it.
All those things in mind, I had the pleasure of attending a particularly heartfelt ceremony over the weekend and thought I’d share a few tips when dressing for an early spring wedding.
#1: Location, Location, Location: Knowing if you’re headed to a church, a backyard, or a beach is crucial. You’re not going to want to wear the four inch stilettos to the beach and you’re going to want to air on the side of conservative if there’s a church ceremony. You should always start with the ‘where’ in order to gauge shoe choice, layers, and your likely audience.
#2: NO WHITE: Don’t be that person.
#3: The Art of Subtlety: For this day you’re an audience member, so don’t try and steal the show. Stick to simple pieces with a flattering color or subtle pattern and have your fun with accessories. Adding a louder shoe, piling on a wrist full of bracelets, or bringing out a special purse are always acceptable.
#4: Keep It Clean: Surrounded by a slew of children and your great uncle, it’s best to keep your ensemble tasteful. Avoid party dresses with plunging necklines and be conscious of length. You want to dress your best as you’re reconnecting with distant friends and unlikely faces, but keep it classy-you can still wear something figure flattering that is also appropriate.
