If there ever was an accessory or item of clothing more controversial or polarized than a hat, I’d like to know about it. From berets and beanies to floppy hats and fedoras, you either love ‘em or loath em’. I myself have always wanted to be a hat person, and given that subset of people exists i believes proves my point.
Whether you want to call it the Greek Fisherman hat, Baker Boy, Cadet, or Newsboy Cap, there’s no denying this 90′s-inspired headpiece has resurfaced and stolen the spotlight this season.
Seen on practically every street style mogul and going 2-for-2 with the Hadid sisters, I couldn’t help but dig up my very own Baker Boy that’s been in heavy winter storage hibernation since roughly 2009.
I loved the unexpected ivory tint and wool material of this cap and styled it with an array of contrasting earth tones and darks to really feature the trend as a statement.
I layered this ultra-cozy checkered cape over my stone-colored Zara turtleneck and went neutral on the lower half with a pair of black skinny jeans and over-the-knee boots I recently picked up at TJ Maxx. To tie the look together, I opted for my cranberry crossbody with gold detailing that I also got from TJ Maxx (for under $20!).
