Ah, this cheesiest holiday that not even this Cheese Head is a fan of. My Dad always said that he didn’t believe in Valentine’s Day because even though a day dedicated to love seems like a decent idea in theory, every day should feel like Valentine’s Day to the people you love. I am probably the farthest thing from a cynic, so I won’t rain on anyone’s parade, but take the dreaded fourteenth as a day to inspire every other as an opportunity to show your gratitude, respect, and genuine kindness to those around you-especially with whom you love.
Here are just a few of my favorite and least nauseating quotes regarding the big L.
“how you love yourself is how you teach others to love you”
-Rupi Kaur
“Speak to your children as if the are the wisest, kindest, most beautiful and magical humans on earth, for what they believe is what they will become”
-Brook Hampton
“You know the sea ain’t blue / It’s just the sky above? You know that everyone’s a mirror / of the ones they love? And you know you love looking in my eyes so blue / And I can tell you why / You’re just seeing a reflection of you”
-The Bonfire Band
“Everybody’s somebody’s everything”
-Chance the Rapper
They say love is blind. I disagree. Infatuation is blind, love is all-seeing and accepting / Love is seeing all the flaws and blemishes and accepting them. Love is accepting the bad habits and mannerisms, and working around them. Love is recognizing all the fears and insecurities, and knowing your role is to comfort. Love is working through all the challenges and painful times. Infatuation is fragile and will shatter when life is not perfect. / Love is strong and strengthens because it is real.

“ We were together. I forget the rest.”
Walt Whitman
“The best kind of friendships are fierce lady friendships where you aggressively believe in each other, defend each other, and think the other deserves the world”
-anonymous
“If a thing loves, it is infinite”
-William Blake
“Did you get enough to eat?”
-My Grandmother
“Don’t forget to fall in love with yourself first”
-Carrie Bradshaw
