Life update! I must admit, I love school and always have, but starting off this academic year I’m more excited than ever. For my junior year, I’ll be studying fashion business management at the Fashion Institution of Technology -a school I’ve dreamt about attending since I thought feather hair accessories were cool.
Tasked with the job of physically carrying 200+ pounds of my clothing down 27th street and into my tiny room, you could say I’m familiar with the status of my wardrobe. However, moving to a new city and attending a fashion school got me thinking about the current state of my style.
While my style is and should always be ever changing, I think I’m most drawn to a combination of urban and vintage inspired pieces. While exploring my beloved new Chelsea neighborhood, I put together this look that’s very representative of everything I love: a classic black and white stripe in a modern, cropped silhouette, mixing Mango high top sneakers with a heap full of knotted pearls, and red lip.
Easy pieces that feel effortless with a feminine undertone really float my boat and typically serve as the focal point for most of my daily looks. It’s a complete fashion myth that style and discomfort are synonymous. While the occasional, killer stiletto would make a lier out of me, I’m a firm believer that the right fit should always be a common thread in everyone’s wardrobe.
Running around my new ‘campus’ this week has my legs sore, my impending laugh-lines pretty defined, and my styling juices flowing! Cannot wait to see where this year will take little ole me.
