They say don’t sweat the small stuff, but in the case of a thoughtful outfit I’m here to stand up for the little guy. When it comes to a really great look, and a really good piece for that matter, it should really come down to the level of consideration and attention to detail. There should be a three-dimensional appeal that sports some degree of intrigue from every angle head to toe.
In my classes, we talk a lot about value propositions. What’s your point of difference? What do you bring to the table that sets you apart from others?
The same questions can be applied to your wardrobe and how you choose to present yourself. As a tool for self-expression, your clothing speaks on behalf of your personality, primary qualities, and point of view. You may not consider yourself stylish or interested in fashion whatsoever, but no one is exempt from the inherent messages your appearance conveys. Clothing should be fun, so don’t take yourself too seriously to care! After all, why wouldn’t you want to give an impression of thoughtfulness?
As a tribute to my last day of my unforgettable fall internship, this look is literally head-to-toe Tibi. What I think this outfit says about me is that I’m fun, confident, and edgy. I really tried to hit the 360 effect with this look, so here’s a closer look at the details.
Starting in the back, the signature ring accentuation at the neckline of the blazer is a perfect example of Tibi’s detail mantra. Next, I took my favorite new accessory out for a spin, the coveted Man Repeller barrette from their recent Holiday Buffet launch! Man Repeller happens to be my favorite blog as its platform exists under the principles of witty commentary, high emotional intelligence, and unapologetic style (major plug, do check it out!!)
Rotating over to the front, this blazer is absolutely serving. The fall 2018 collection that conceived this very piece, drew inspiration from the city it lives in -seen clearly by the neon graffiti printed around the jacket. The graphic print on top of the subtle pin-stripe adds just the right amount of literal street style to an otherwise traditionally sophisticated garment. I also love the layering of a more casual piece like an easy zip-up sweatshirt to dress down the suit.
Moving downward, the lower level of this outfit still boasts its fair share of attention to detail. Starting with the pants, the trouser is actually cinched into a jogger silhouette thanks to the (adorable) draw string feature stitched into the hem. Just underneath lie the figurative nail in my wallets coffin, the all white Adrian boot, accentuated with the signature Tibi lipstick heal.
Now, while I’m partial to outfitting, I still believe in the attitude impact your clothing holds. Try to take your value proposition into account when you’re dressing and strut your point of difference.
