If you’re like me, this quarantine has NOT been some at-home fitness challenge, crafts retreat, or an organization marathon. As it turns out, I’m a black belt in seemingly doing nothing for hours (days) at a time. Strokes of motivation sometimes playfully stroll through my stream of consciousness, but this air of defeat has been perched on my shoulder, honey-badger-style, since lockdown began.
While I recognize the privilege of boredom and that so many are genuinely suffering, it’s almost tragic irony that just about everyone on earth is enduring a struggle from the same source. Nothing in my lifetime has ever been this exhaustive or comprehensive in that loss has been more or less unifying.
Two things we’re all definitely thinking is that living through this historical event is getting *really* old and that the uncertainty of what lies on the other side of this is frightening. Of course, it’s also our biggest opportunity. It’s unthinkable that a world-wide pause button would ever be pushed, but it has laid bare glaring weaknesses in our societies. When we restart, this black mark could incite so much opportunity to become a watershed for the better.
So, in an effort to jump-start my productivity, regain brain cells, and open more channels of communication with positive energy, welcome to the debut of The Quarantine Chronicles. Through this newsletter, I hope to bring you joy, scratch your curiosity, and dropkick the air of defeat off your shoulders.

The Isolation Journal – So Maggie Rogers told my friend who told me about this beautiful idea. Inspired by her time during Leukemia treatment, survivor Suleika Jaouad created subscription style self care. Free of charge, Suleika will send you a fresh journaling prompt from April 1-May 1 to help offer a moment of reflection and creativity. I love this idea because it’s not supposed to be a piece of work or competition, just time to breathe.
