Listening to the belchy roar of the coffee pot as the clock jogs past noon was typically a ritual reserved for Sundays. Except now it’s Wednesday. Thursday? Monday? I finally decide to abandon my inner monologue and actually check the date -Tuesday.
With traditional calendars that seem more or less optional and weeks that feel more like a slow-motion whirling dervish, naturally I would task myself with a scheduled newsletter. So, fashionably late, here’s this weeks roundup of superlatives. Hope you’re all safe and finding new ways to annoy your family.
Follow of the Week
@cocktailswithcorinne
A true mixologist in the making, it’s no coincidence the beauty and brains behind this operation would be Miss Hennessey herself. My darling friend whom I met in London two summer a lifetime ago, is a straight up renaissance woman and has come up with the most on-brand side hustle: a virtual, custom made, specialty cocktail recipe book. After you follow, DM her your favorite liquor, color, and flavor of cocktail and she’ll handle the rest…
Cause of the Week
No Kid Hungry
Joining the movement of teachers, chefs, community leaders, social workers, and parents, this organization sets out to do exactly what it says; no kid in America should ever go hungry. With school closing and income shortages more prevalent than ever for low-income households, this is your chance to help the most vulnerable affected by coronavirus on the most basic level.

Podcast of the Week
Dissect
1 season = 1 monumental album and 1 episode = 1 song. If you’re into music that has actual lyrics, then this might be the perfect listen for you. Diving into Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN, Frank Ocean’s Blonde, and the debut album of Ms. Lauryn Hill, this podcast literally dissects all the double entendres, symbolisms, and cultural references that often get lost. I recently got really into it because of their new season coming out about Beyonce’s Lemonade. Although the episodes are lengthy, lockdown does come with some time to spare.
Hurray of the Week
YSL alerts departure from the fashion calendar – announced this week by the French couture fashion house. Creative director, Anthony Vaccarello, commented that the average six collection annual schedule was proving to be, “more of burden than an organized output of creativity”. Taking back this kind of ownership and rejecting the capitalist machine that demands more and more product at an alarming frequency was a display of leadership. Obviously amongst the current crisis, fashion weeks are non-essential, but this announcement marks a change that promotes a more sustainable rate of production the industry has been slow to adopt.

Series of the Week
Ramy – Hulu
Winning a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a tv series musical or comedy, Ramy Youssef is the underdog that could! In the 10-episode first season, Ramy gives a voice to the Arab Muslim perspective that’s virtually nonexistent on popular television today. Basically, the main character faces a common identity struggle between his spiritual journey as a first-generation Egyptian-American and millennial trying to find their place in the world. I literally finished it in two days. The whole story is written like a really good, heartbreaking book so just PLEASE WATCH!
