Fall Anticipation
As a student, I’m always on the lookout for value. Between thrift stores, trend hubs, boutiques, and variety stores one has to know where their dollar is worth the most.
When looking for everyday, casual pieces, head towards a variety store such as Target; a company with low prices that keeps up with trends and always keeps your essentials in stock. Speaking of trends, taking your dollar to a trend-specific retailer such as H&M or Forever21 is the next move. Fads are fun but circulate too often to really drop any real cash. On the other hand, the place to really invest is in the timeless staples. The classic pieces you can’t live without should be purchased at a store you trust. Boutiques that carry durable, quality lines should definitely serve as your go-to. Then there are the killer garments you never knew you needed which, in my experience, always lie tucked in a thrift store awaiting the day you two will meet.
For this fall ensemble, I started with my trusty pair of Citizens of Humanity denim, always in stock at Stephanie Horne Boutique. I then headed over to Target to spruce up my look, while on a budget, with striped T at $14 and olive vest at $27 (vest available http://www.target.com/p/women-s-long-vest-mossimo/-/A-50547253). Next, my Forever21 suede ankle booties paired nicely and simply screamed fall. I then accessorized with the cherry-on-top: vintage, navy necktie, having revealed itself at the local campus resale shop, Amused. Now all I need is a cup of cider stirred with the ever cliche, yet completely necessary, token cinnamon stick.
