Statement pieces, wow factors, and basics are all items one strives to house in their wardrobe; but possibly the greatest are those deemed utility players. In other words, a go-to piece of clothing that can easily transfer from day to night, lax to uptown. With summer on my mind, I brought out these blu pepper linen trousers to hopefully coax Milwaukee towards warmer temperatures. As fussy as linen can behave, its breathability and carefree style are frankly irresistible.
Cinched comfortably at my waist and dropping just below my ankle, these wide-leg linens are my roster’s token utility player. To prove it, here are four styled examples for (1) a night out (2) a casual afternoon (3) the minimalist (4) and the office.
Night Out: A bold summer print and shine vamped up this first look. A Trina Turk blouse provides the perfect focal point thanks to its flirty necktie and colorful print. Additionally, to elevate the pants for P.M., I opted for a pair of rose gold Lauren Conrad heels and matching Michael Kors watch.
Casual Afternoon: Playing up the natural ease linen provides, I went for a loose-fitting ombre top with a jean jacket layered on top. For an errand and/or activity-filled afternoon, Ray Ban aviators and espadrille platform sneakers go the distance.
Minimalist: To truly feature these trousers for the headliner they are, here’s a look that’s equally as classic as it is cool. A plain black tank and Target brand sandals along with dangly earrings and a pair of shades culminate to an effortless ensemble easily appropriate to strut day or night.
Office Attire: While we’d love to spend our summers strolling along parks and avenues, the office claims reality. To transition these pants for the fourth scenario, I selected complementary navy pieces with just the right amount of coverage. While the blazer and longer sleeved top add a professional take, the cold shoulder and whimsical pattern still offer a playful vibe that pairs nicely. To finish off the look, I grabbed a business tote, a pair of hoops, and Kate Spade pumps.
