When it comes to selecting my superpower of choice, without a doubt teleportation would be at the top of my list. My chronic case of FOMO and relentless travel bug, would most definitely be cured if I could snap my fingers and return to say, Dublin. A place where I was once surrounded by my goat rodeo of a family (+bestie) and in the land of Guinness.
Currently, the only superpowers in my repertoire are misplacing shit and spending all my money on sentimental souvenirs. Exhibit A, this insanely on-brand rugby tee from the Guinness factory in Ireland! As official captain of team studied abroad one time, I tried my hand in some elevated styling, representing my squad and my favorite stout.
Rugby is revered as one of the most aggressive and masculine sports around the world, so I thought it would be fun to take a feminine approach. The stilettos sans scrum route if you will.
When mixing unconventional pieces, I find the result is more cohesive when dealing with a single or similar colors. Black did the trick in this case, as I gravitated towards a layered turtleneck and this Vakko leather mini skirt. With such a loose fitting, conservative top, some balance of skin exposure and consequent attitude was needed.
Hopping right on the monochromatic color palette, these Steve Madden sandals, Kate Spade clutch, and floral neck scarf helped to add a womanly touch and beef up the styling.
The shirt itself should actually receive some credit on its detail. From the iconic harp insignia to the color block striping and collar graphics, who knew Guinness would be receiving design accolades. With athleisure’s lifespan starting to make an Irish goodbye, trying out sportswear in different ways could inject a second wind into the idea.
To fully analyze, this top combines some of the hottest trends in mainstream fashion: logomania, throwback aesthetic, and sportswear. Again, shoutout Guinness!?
I’m probably the most extra lounger you’ll ever meet, so this fit truly brings the facets of my personality together in matrimony -and isn’t that what dressing is all about? Now, off to Chelsea’s local pub for a pint and damn chair.
